New Year’s Resolutions 2025

It’s December, which means I am extremely done with the current year and already obsessed with how much better next year is going to be. As such, I decided to share my New Year’s Resolutions for 2025:

1. Do one new thing each week

As of this writing, I’ve kept up with this during 2024 and want to keep it going for 2025! You can follow along at Year of New on Instagram.

2. Run the 2025 NYC Marathon

I’ve officially qualified for a slot in next year’s NYC Marathon. I previously ran the Marathon in 2018, after which I swore I would never run it again. Apparently I’ve had enough time to forget what was one of the most miserable days of my life. AND I’d like to shave an hour off my previous time, so I’m going to have to train a lot harder for this one.

3. Visit a new country.

I have a few ideas but not 100% sure what’s feasible at this point. Might just be a day trip to Luxembourg during my usual jaunt to Paris.

4. Finish watching all of Wong Kar-wai’s films.

This year I saw three Wong Kar-wai films, all in the theater (including one in French with Cantonese subtitles): In the Mood for Love, Chungking Express, and Days of Being Wild. The others I need to see are:

  • As Tears Go By
  • Ashes of Time
  • Fallen Angels
  • Happy Together
  • 2046
  • My Blueberry Nights
  • The Grandmaster

5. Continue reading my cousin Matt’s books

My aunt and uncle gave me my cousin Matt’s books not long after he passed away unexpectedly in January 2020. I keep expecting this to be a one-year project, when it’s turning out to be a multi-year project. It’s still very important to me to complete this goal, and I hope to make some serious headway on it in 2025.
